They Call Him Sweet Tea

Daryl Bizier, known by his fans and the professional cornhole community as “Sweet Tea”, has had an interesting road to becoming a top 100 cornhole player in the world. An athlete in his early high school years, Daryl faced a life challenge when he lost his sight in one eye at age 14 after being shot by a BB gun. While his limited eyesight caused depth perception issues that ended his playing career, Daryl remained active in sports by getting involved in coaching baseball at both the youth and high school levels. He has been coaching now for the past 35 years here in Northeast Florida, helping to train the next generation of baseball (and now cornhole) players.

Daryl’s introduction to cornhole came innocently enough at a local restaurant who was having a blind draw cornhole competition. With a fast attraction to the sport, he soon began regularly participating in local tournaments and seemed to have a natural talent for the sport and started playing competitively a few years ago. His interest grew more serious as his skills improved and he eventually became a rising star, turning pro last year. In a short period of time Daryl was ranked as a top 100 player in the men’s open standings. He even has a corporate sponsor, Lucky Bags, and is seeking others. During one televised tournament, the broadcast announcer referred to him as “Sweet Tea” due to his fondness for this favorite drink. The name stuck and now he’s a rising star in the cornhole world affectionately known as Daryl “Sweet Tea” Bizier.

“Jacksonville and all of Florida for that matter is a hotbed for both amateur and competitive cornhole enthusiasts,” said Daryl. “It’s a sport that anyone at any age can enjoy and I’m happy to be a public face to promote the sport nationally and help train the next generation of cornhole players.”
